My name is Jared Cherico and I am the owner of Jared Cherico Fitness. I am 23 years old and based out of Massachusetts. I have been powerlifting coaching and personal training for a little over three years. I have an Associate’s Degree in Exercise Science from Mount Wachusett Community College and I am currently studying for a Bachelors Degree in Biology. I am also an ACE certified personal trainer and I consume continued education of some kind weekly. I’ve taken courses such as Pre Script Level 1 and Connor Harris’s Biomechanics Course and done mentorships from figures in powerlifting and physical therapy such as Corey Hecht, John Song, Skylar Holt, Anas Anbar, Sean Collins, and Sean Noriega.

I did my first powerlifting competition in 2021. When I began powerlifting, I never thought I was going to coach it. I wanted to do personal training, and do this purely for myself. However, once I encountered some pain for a few years and training was no longer my number 1 priority, I began to realize how much I value helping others in this sport. I was already helping out a few friends, whom I still coach today, so I decided to dive deep into learning more about how I can help them. I can say now I 100% get more fulfillment out of coaching powerlifting rather than my own training. The longer I do it, the more I want to help grow the sport so that more people can experience how fun and beneficial it can be.

My coaching philosophy

My coaching philosophy is that through self-accountability, consistent work, communication, and mindfulness athletes can set themselves up for a successful training career. I believe in an individualized and detail oriented approach that can only be as successful as the athletes ability to communicate their needs. I believe in the importance of athlete feedback and I use it to shape our programs in conjunction with more objective data. When it comes to programming I like to operate around the idea of doing what works until we need a change.

The thing I love most about coaching is hearing someone appreciate my adjustments because it makes them feel better and happier. I want to give every athlete an individualized experience to guide them to becoming a better version of themselves as a lifter. The wide range of meaning to each athlete is also what gives this job so much life. For some, it may just help them get to where they want to be competitively or just for fun. For others, having a well thought out training program with a coach who cares can be life changing to their mental and physical health. This wide spectrum of needs is what makes this job so fulfilling for me.

I believe every athlete deserves a well thought out, individualized training plan that is specific to their needs which starts from the on- boarding process.

Strength

Once the athletes specific needs are addressed, we aim to get them stronger over time.
